Hexagon Targets Growth in Türkiye’s Defense and Aerospace Market

Hexagon has announced plans to expand its presence in Türkiye, highlighting the country’s growing role in the global defense and aerospace supply chain.

The Sweden-based technology company participated in SAHA EXPO for the first time, presenting high-precision digital quality solutions developed for complex defense, aerospace and advanced manufacturing processes.

Hexagon’s Global Vice President for Aerospace and Defense, Aziz Tahiri, said Türkiye has become an increasingly important production and engineering hub thanks to its strong industrial base, fast scaling capability and improving quality standards.

Digital Quality for Defense and Aerospace Production

Defense and aerospace manufacturing require extremely precise quality control due to strict certification standards, complex supply chains and high safety requirements.

Hexagon’s solutions are designed to help manufacturers measure large and complex components with micron-level accuracy, reduce inspection time and make quality control less disruptive to production.

One of the key systems introduced at the exhibition was the ATS800 laser-based measurement system. The system can scan large structures such as aircraft fuselages and defense platforms from long distances, supporting high-precision inspection without direct contact.

Hexagon’s official product information describes the ATS800 as a system capable of measuring fine edges, features and large surfaces accurately from up to 40 meters away.

Automation to Reduce Quality Control Bottlenecks

Hexagon also highlighted its automated inspection technologies.

The company’s PRESTO Quality Stations are modular robotic inspection cells designed for automated 3D measurement in aerospace and automotive manufacturing. These systems allow manufacturers to perform inspection processes with less human intervention and higher repeatability.

Another solution, MAESTRO, is an all-digital coordinate measuring machine developed for modern manufacturing environments. Hexagon positions MAESTRO as a faster, connected and more adaptable measurement platform for high-demand production lines.

According to the company, these systems are especially relevant as global aerospace and defense manufacturers face pressure to increase production volume while maintaining strict quality standards.

Türkiye Seen as a Critical Manufacturing Hub

Tahiri emphasized that Turkish defense and aerospace companies have reached global standards in delivery performance and quality.

He noted that major Turkish companies such as Turkish Aerospace and ASELSAN are gaining increasing visibility in international programs, while Turkish suppliers are becoming more attractive within global aerospace supply chains.

Hexagon currently operates in Türkiye with more than 50 employees and two service centers providing training, calibration and technical support.

The company also underlined the importance of local after-sales support. In high-regulation sectors such as aerospace and defense, local calibration, certification and Turkish-language technical support can directly affect production continuity.

Strategic Importance

Hexagon’s growth plan in Türkiye reflects a broader trend in the country’s defense and aerospace sector.

As Turkish manufacturers move from platform development toward larger-scale serial production and export programs, digital quality systems are becoming more important. Precision measurement, automated inspection and certified calibration infrastructure can help Turkish companies shorten production cycles, reduce errors and meet international customer requirements.

For Hexagon, Türkiye represents a fast-growing market with strong engineering capability and increasing integration into global defense and aerospace supply chains.

For Türkiye, the presence of advanced digital quality providers can support the next phase of industrial growth: faster production without compromising precision, certification and reliability.
