Altınay Defense Reaches Full Capacity and Sets Higher Growth Targets

Altınay Defense Technologies has reached full production capacity at its new manufacturing center in Kocaeli, marking an important milestone in the company’s growth strategy and Türkiye’s defense technology ecosystem.

The Altınay Defense Production Technologies Center, located in the Dilovası Machinery Specialized Organized Industrial Zone, was established with an investment of $25 million. The facility has 12,500 square meters of enclosed production area and reached full capacity in less than a year after its official opening.

The company says the center has become more than a manufacturing site. It now serves as a strategic hub for advanced engineering, system integration, high-precision production and indigenous technology development.

Altınay Defense General Manager Z. Burak Mercan said the company has built its growth model around high technology, R&D, product development and production.

According to Mercan, Altınay Defense increased its sales by 30 percent compared to the previous year and aimed to raise its revenue from $55 million in 2024 to more than $70 million in 2025.

$450 Million Offer Pipeline

Altınay Defense is also expanding its commercial outlook with a strong pipeline of potential business.

Mercan stated that the company has an open offer pool of around $450 million and an order backlog exceeding $200 million. He said the impact of these opportunities is expected to become more visible gradually over the next three years.

The company is also evaluating new growth options in Europe, including the possibility of establishing or acquiring a company. This would support Altınay’s goal of expanding its export footprint and reaching wider international markets.

Altınay is also working to develop dual-use products that can serve both military and civilian applications. These include systems that could be used in energy, logistics, disaster management, medical robotics and drone-based early forest fire detection.

Demand for Ammunition Production Lines

Mercan also pointed to increasing global demand for ammunition production infrastructure.

According to him, recent wars and geopolitical instability have pushed many countries to expand their domestic ammunition production capacity. Altınay Defense has received production line setup requests from regions including Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Far East Asia.

Mercan said unmanned aerial vehicle production has been one of the fastest-growing areas in recent years, but ammunition production is now accelerating at a similar pace.

TAAC Supports KAAN and HÜRJET

TAAC Aviation Technologies, one of the most strategic companies within the Altınay Defense Group, plays a critical role in Türkiye’s national aviation programs.

The company develops and produces flight control actuators, auxiliary actuators, landing gear and test systems for fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters and other air platforms.

Then-TAAC General Manager Enis Ata stated that the company is working to increase localization in critical aviation subsystems for both military and civil aircraft. He emphasized that landing gear and flight control actuators are among the most critical aircraft components after engines.

TAAC is currently supporting national platforms such as HÜRJET and KAAN. These efforts are important because only a limited number of countries and companies have the engineering capability to develop landing gear and flight control systems at the level required by fifth-generation fighter aircraft.

The company is also preparing for growing international demand for Turkish aircraft. Recent agreements involving HÜRJET have shown that Turkish aviation platforms are gaining stronger attention abroad, and TAAC is investing to meet future serial production requirements.

TAAC has also made its first export through a contract with a Middle Eastern company and is working on subsystem development proposals across four continents.

DASAL Expands Heavy-Lift UAV Portfolio

DASAL Aviation Technologies, another Altınay Defense subsidiary, is developing a broad unmanned aerial vehicle portfolio ranging from micro-class UAVs to heavy-lift platforms designed for logistics missions.

DASAL General Manager Murat Koç said the company combines its expertise in battery technologies with rotary-wing UAV systems, giving it a special position in Türkiye’s unmanned aviation ecosystem.

The company’s product family includes platforms with take-off weights ranging from 1 kg to 500 kg. These systems are designed for missions such as reconnaissance, surveillance, logistics support, survivability and tactical operations.

DASAL is also working on electric propulsion systems capable of supporting aircraft that could carry humans in the future. Koç described the company’s position as Türkiye’s “Tesla” in aviation, referring to its focus on electric propulsion, battery technologies and advanced UAV systems.

The company is actively pursuing export opportunities in multiple regions, including Latin America, Southeast Asia and Africa. It is also conducting demonstrations and business development visits through its representatives abroad.

Advanced Production Infrastructure

Altınay Defense’s production center includes high-precision CNC production lines, electromechanical system integration laboratories, domestic software-based control systems, test infrastructure for stealth and signature-reduction technologies, and high-capacity online simulation systems.

The company will continue investing in high-technology machinery, including production lines for spur and bevel gears.

With its new production capacity, growing order pipeline, aviation subsystem capabilities and expanding UAV portfolio, Altınay Defense is positioning itself as a broader technology group rather than a single-product defense manufacturer.

The company’s full-capacity production milestone reflects Türkiye’s wider defense industry strategy: building local supply chains, reducing foreign dependency in critical subsystems and turning national engineering capabilities into exportable high-value technologies.
