ASELSAN continued its localization drive in 2025 as part of Türkiye’s broader effort to reduce foreign dependency in critical defense technologies.
According to information from ASELSAN’s 2025 Annual Report, the company and its suppliers successfully localized 103 products during the year. With these additions, the total number of products localized since 2018 reached 982.
The localized products received $235 million worth of purchase orders in 2025. Over the last seven years, ASELSAN’s localization efforts have helped keep more than $1 billion in economic value within Türkiye. The company also achieved an estimated $80 million gain in 2025 compared to equivalent foreign products.
ASELSAN’s localization activities remain ongoing. The company is currently working with 30 suppliers on the localization of 340 additional products.
Critical Technologies Prioritized
ASELSAN’s localization strategy focuses especially on critical, high-technology products that are exposed to embargo risks, export restrictions or foreign supply dependency.
The company stated that localization is not a preference but a necessity. In line with this approach, ASELSAN aims to continue prioritizing systems and components that are vital for Türkiye’s defense industry independence.
Throughout 2025, ASELSAN also increased its efforts to promote localization awareness. Localized products were displayed at exhibitions, provincial industry meetings and industrialization events.
Supply Chain Digitalization and Supplier Ecosystem
ASELSAN also made significant improvements in supply chain management in 2025, focusing on localization, simplification and digitalization.
The company expanded applications that improve decision-making speed and traceability across its supply chain. Its end-to-end digital supply chain initiatives were recognized by the Supply Chain Professionals Club, receiving awards in the “Project of the Year” and “Most Innovative Project” categories.
ASELSAN’s Supply Chain Management organization also ranked 8th among the strongest and most influential supply chains.
The company works with a total of 5,500 suppliers, including 3,300 domestic suppliers. In 2025, the business volume ASELSAN transferred to its ecosystem increased by 82 percent, exceeding $5 billion.
In addition, ASELSAN provided $44 million in financing to 36 supplier companies through 11 banks under its Supplier Financing System.
IoT-Based Traceability Program Expands
As part of its end-to-end traceability efforts, ASELSAN began installing IoT-based Manufacturing Execution System infrastructure at supplier facilities.
These systems allow machine-level production data and supplier capacity information to be transferred to ASELSAN. In 2025, infrastructure installation started at 17 approved subcontractor companies, with work completed at 10 companies.
ASELSAN aims to expand the number of companies using this infrastructure to 50 in 2026.
With its localization, supplier development and digital supply chain initiatives, ASELSAN is strengthening Türkiye’s domestic defense industry ecosystem while reducing dependency on foreign technologies and restricted components.
